Seth Buddhmal Duggar Government College has been enlightening the desert area with quality education for the last 50 years. The testimony to this fact is that the passed out students of this college are winning laurels in government and private fields and glorifying the name of this college.
In the year 2005, NAAC inspection took place in the college and conferred B+ grade on our college with the consequence that State Government entitled our college as Centre for Excellence in the session 2007-08 and this is a matter of great pride that this college is the only UG college with this appellation.
In the session 2010-11, college gave admission to 1084 students out of which 714 students are in the Arts Faculty, 216 students in the Commerce Faculty and 154 students in the Science Faculty.
College exam results are laudable. The average result for the session 2009-10 was 95.53%. The result of Arts Faculty was 95.94, 94.47% of Commerce and 78.80% of Science Faculty. These results are very encouraging.
Total 19 subjects are taught in the college. There are three subjects in Commerce viz. Economic Administration and Financial Management, Business Administration and Accounts and Statistics; in science stream there are five subjects viz. Botany, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics; there are eleven subjects in Arts Faculty viz. Hindi Literature, English Literature, Sanskrit, Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Public Administration, History, Geography, Life Sciences, Jain Vidhya, Drawing and Painting. There are two units of NSS in our college. Under the banner of NSS, several special and regular camps have been conducted and volunteers have very actively participated in many activities of developmental works like plantation, housekeeping and health services. The credit for the greenery in college goes to the NSS units.
There is one NCC unit also in college and the NCC cadets very enthusiastically participate in the developmental works and offer their services in the National Level Campaigns. At present there are 53 cadet forming a platoon in the college which consists of 41boys and 12 girls.
College was sanctioned 88 lakhs and 75 thousand rupees under 11th Five Year Plan because of the untiring efforts of UGC Incharge Dr. O. P. Bohara and the then principal Prof S. R. Poonia. Apart from this, an amount of 40 lakh rupees was sanctioned separately for the girls hostel. College has started getting the installments of the sanctioned amount and construction of the hostel will be started shortly.
The college students have excelled in the field of sports and other competitions too. In Inter college Ball-Badminton tournament of Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner, our college's girls team was First Runner Up. Our students Rakesh Choudhary, Pritam Singh Shekhatwat, Varun Verma, Yogesh Kumar Sharma represented the college team in Inter College Badminton tournament of MGS University, Bikaner.
Many developmental works like complete housekeeping of campus, repairing work, coloring and renovation of playground and track have been done in our college with the limited resources availed from State Government. The timely contribution of the private donors cannot be forgotten. Sh. Swaroopchand Soni, Advocate Sh. Shivchand Sahu, donated a water cooler1150 plants and 1 tonne manure were donated by Prof. Dr. G. K. Sen of IIT New Delhi
The front wall construction and iron grilling work, sponsored by Sh. Sampatmal Nahata, is over. Sh. Nahata also gifted two computers with printers to the college.
The college is indebted to Sh. Buddhmal Duggar Johari Family for their unrelenting efforts for upgrading the college to the P. G. level in Jainology, Life Sciences and for the enlargement of Jain Vidhya Bhawan.
In accordance with the instructions of UGC, College has started remedial classes (Free coaching) for the students of SC/ST and OBC.
This college is working as the Study Centre for the various courses conducted by Mahavir Vardhman University, Kota.
Career Oriented Plan, sponsored by Information and Computer Technology UGC, was started in college in July 2008. Various Certificate Courses, Diploma Courses and Advanced Diploma Course have been initiated. A Lab has been constructed for this purpose. At present, 7 students have taken admission in this course and their exams will be conducted by MGS University, Bikaner.
Under the programme of ICT, as instructed by the secretariat, computer training course has been initiated for the faculty members and ministerial staff of the college.
A Youth Development Centre has been established in the session 2009-10 under the directions of State Government under which 20 Hours Compulsory course with special lectures of experts is conducted for the students of final year of Arts, Commerce and Science.
On being given the status of Model College the responsibilities of the college have multiplied and the State Government has put many ambitious targets before the college that are not expected to be attained without the financial assistance of the local donors and District Administration. Last year college received 2 Lac 20 thousand rupees under the scheme of Model College under which a round table was got made under the recommendation of Tehrin Committee in order to furnish the Seminar Room. Under the Water Preservation Programme of State Government, Water Harvesting System was constructed in the college and 200 Liter capacity water cooler was purchased for the Science Faculty. College website has been updated. Some academic software is proposed to be bought for office purpose. Some erudite lectures of renowned scholars will be held in college. Anti-ragging rules are disseminated in the college under the directions of High Court.
Many steps of success have to be scales by the college yet. Thus I appeal to the donors and the administration to share the growth of the college with their open heart.
